Cartoon of friend

Here is a cartoon I did of a friend of mine- I dont have reference pics to show, but I am pretty happy with it

I drew it in flipbook actually (which is what I am doing my film in) then touched it up in photoshop

Grandparents Dog

I did this painting on my Tablet Laptop over the holidays, It is my Grandparents dog, She dog was just sitting there posing for most of it which I was happy about, (Animals tend to never sit still)

Bodyworlds - Life drawing

Today I went to Bodyworlds with some friends, it was pretty fun as I actually brought sketching materials with me. The last time I went (about 3 or 4 years ago) they were a little more strict with the drawing part that I didn't even bother, but wished I had-

If you haven't gone before it is worth seeing, some pretty crazy and interesting things to be seen there- As for the drawings themselves, I don't pretend that they are fully accurate- It's been awhile since my anatomy classes lol.

 I also included a Life drawing I did in class today, all done on 11X17 paper.. going to give that a try for now instead of newsprint.

This is a breakdown of a run "cycle" used in the film and the context in which it was placed.
It isnt really supposed to be a loop and in the actual film it goes by in 1 second partially obscured by a tree.



Here is my character design for "Archer" the main gorilla in the film, I made a sculpt of it early on in development and then made minor changes digitally as the character model changed.

Retirement Caricature

A long serving worker at the Kingston Cogeneration Power Plant (which I have been working at landscaping during my summer days) is retiring so I did this Caricature of him as part of a scrapbook being put together as a fairwell.

Random Stop Mo Fun

Here are two stop motion tests I did today for fun- they are so short though that it might be annoying playing in this little window.. they are also on youtube- the characters are a little critter I made last semester, and the punisher sporting a new garb :)

3D Animation "Thinking Character"

Here is my first attempt at character animation in maya, it is actually pretty fun once you get past the initial stage of not knowing anything about the program.. I find the lip sync especially fun, but that could be because Mike Watters did an excellent job in rigging this character- I did the voice also. In hind site I wish I altered the proportions of the model to appear more Elderly.

Gorilla Warfare

I haven't really posted anything regarding our current third year group film "Gorilla Warfare" as we are trying to keep most of it hidden until it is solid. I figured I would show my design for the main character at least, and a sketch I did involving the five main gorillas, two of which are kind of hidden. (their designs have been flushed out since there, but the overall shapes are the same.) The film so far has been great to work on, we had a rough start involving changing the story entirely about twice a week.. having group meetings so long that we had two meals in its duration. Other then that I would say that we have an awesome group, lots of talent in various areas and most people are excited about the film and strive to make it good. This has been the best year so far - even when sitting at school at 6 o clock in the morning dead tired working on assignments (having not left since the previous morning) and placing my hand in a cast when not in use (not really though) I look around and think to myself "This is awesome! here we are making a film, drawing.. hopefully someday for a living. I think a lot of it is the fact that I am not alone in my suffering, people that I have spent the past 2 or 3 years getting to know are with me also during those times. Last year I would get to almost a depressed state when unable to complete assignments to my perfectionist satisfaction..but now for the most part I am able to accept that it is the reality of the business and do the best I can in the time given. I learned a lot in doing this last assignment "Action Analysis" which I will post in a couple weeks when I am back at the school. It is a great one as it takes us from the early stages of development to a "Final product" that is, cleaned, coloured and composited. It was also only 5 seconds.. so this group film is gonna be a lot of work haha

Stop Motion Test

Hey all, here is a little stop motion test I did today in Stop Motion class. Practice for an up comming weight lift (or smash) assignment. It's kind of nice at the end of the day to play around with the puppets and just experiment without wasting paper! haha

WALL-E

Can you guess what movie I Saw last night? -- thats right, after a long night at canadian tire it was WALL-E that I viewed and what a piece of excellence it was too. I gotta say, I am quite happy with the movies that have come out this summer, with Indiana Jones, Iron Man, Kung Foo Panda(also awesome), Wall-E, Hancock (which rocked until the last half..) etc. (havent seen them all yet)

Cousin Char

Here is a caricature I did of my cousin during a camping trip- The one being the original I drew on the island, and the other is a clean-up version with some shading (not too thrilled with the shading part but its on a separate layer anyway so I can remove it from the clean line if I so choose.)

if you notice.. he had his braces remove a couple days after I did the drawing, so when I cleaned it up I erased them lol.

Mr Tallon

I visited my old highschool the other day, they have a new wing which includes a media room and a green screen.. so I (naturally) had to take a look. I had brought some paper and a clipboard along so I ended up drawing one of the Teachers. This is Mr Tallon

Some Sketches

Here are some sketches which have absolutely nothing to do with eachother.. the caricatures are a mix of cafe drawings and characters in movie clips we drew during Emslie's class. The tonal is a thumbnail sketch I drew down at the harbour (oakville) and the third is RoboCop, this relates to a post I made on http://summer-of-george.blogspot.com/ I decided to watch the original Robocop as I had never scene it all the way through, or if I did.. I didn't recall any of it..
